What ages does First Tee instruct? First Tee teaches participants ages 7 through 18.
Who are the instructors? Certified First Tee coaches and volunteers. Generally, a PGA professional attends sessions on the practice range.
What is the cost? There is a one-time fee of $85.00 that covers all classes for each summer session. Program scholarships are available based on financial need.
Are classes canceled because of weather? If weather becomes severe enough to cancel classes, a message will be posted on the home page of our website as well as being posted via our social media avenues.
How long are your classes? Depending on location, classes typically run from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday each week of the session.
What if I don't have any golf clubs? Golf equipment will be supplied to those participants who don't have their own.
Where do the classes take place? At Warrior Run, West Grand Golf, Woodland Hills Golf Course/Des Moines Driving Range, Coldwater Golf Links, Woodward Golf Club, Copper Creek Golf Course and Grinnell College Golf Course.
Does First Tee — Central Iowa offer private lessons? No, not at this time.
Can a child stay involved with First Tee year after year? Yes. Participants will learn interpersonal, self management, and goal setting, skills (in addition to golf) as they advance through the First Tee Program levels of PLAYer, Par, Birdie, and beyond.
